“Viral Warning “.

The mixed media artwork is another example of a future envisaged warning road sign created in response to the Covid-19 virus outbreak.I used the same abandoned road sign, replacing the original detail underneath with a drawing of the physical structure of the actual virus. The ‘new’sign was this time located next to the country lane,at Dobs Hill in Flintshire and it was interesting to see the confused reactions from occasional driver passing by!After photography, the sign was disassembled and stored, ready for the next response.

“Trees Distancing “.

The mixed media artwork is one of my first responses to the Covid-19 virus and was created in April 2020 whilst in lockdown.I came across a deserted road sign during one of my daily cycle rides, next to a woodland country lane in Flintshire, North Wales and saw this as an opportunity to create a new future envisaged roadsign installation that reflected social distancing measures .I replaced a paper triangle sign over the original detail, with a sharpie drawing of two trees socially distancing, in response to the surrounding woodland. The installation was assembled and photographed within the woodland, next to the country lane to reinforce the jocular and ironic message behind the aartwork. The roadsign would form the basis for future ideas related the the virus.
